General Information
The NASA HDF and HDF-EOS Workshop VI will be held at The Westin St. Francis located at Union Square, 335 Powell Street, San Francisco, CA 94102.The workshop dates are December 4-5, 2002.
Registration
Please return the registration form by November 8, 2002 to Ana Reis, of Westover Consultants. Registration forms may be faxed to 301-345-4659 or mailed to: Ana Reis RSIS/Westover Consultants, 7833 Walker Dr., Suite 560, Greenbelt, MD 20770.
The registration fee for the workshop is $100.00. Registration fees may be paid by credit card, check made payable to RS Information Systems, or by purchase order. Please note that only original purchase orders may be processed. We are unable to process faxed copies of purchase orders.
Meals
Continental Breakfast, Mid-Morning Coffee Refresh, Lunch and Afternoon Break will be provided each day.
Hotel Information
A block of sleeping rooms has been reserved at The Westin St. Francis a the rate of $129.00. To make your reservation, please contact the hotel directly at (415) 397-7000. Please identify yourself as part of the NASA HDF-EOS Workshop to receive the group rate. You may also make your reservation through the Westin Worldwide reservations line, 800-WESTIN-1 (800-937-8461). Reservations must be made by Friday, November 8, 2002. After this date, rooms will be available on a space and rate availability basis.
If you are required to cancel your reservation for any reason, you must cancel your reservation directly with the Westin St. Francis. To avoid cancellation charges, reservations must be cancelled at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date. You will be given a cancellation number at the time the reservation is cancelled.
Check-in time is 3:00 PM and check-out time is 12:00 PM.
The hotel offers valet parking for 225 cars. Overnight parking is $39.00. There are also several nearby parking lots in the Union Square Area. The average charge for these nearby lots is $24.00 for overnight parking.
Transportation
The SFO Airporter bus or van stops outside the Baggage Claim at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) are on the median strip and at the hotel's Geary Street entrance. Buses/vans run from 5:00 a.m. -10:30 p.m. and come at lest every half-hour, with additional vehicle running during peak period. One-way fare is $12.50. Allow 45-60 minutes total travel time. No reservations necessary.
Taxis are available at the Airport Cab Stand, or outside the Powell Street Entrance of the hotel. Approximate charge for one way is $30-35 excluding gratuity for up to four passengers. Allow 30-35 minutes total travel time.
Rental Cars are available throughout the San Francisco International Airport, as well as around Union Square. There is a Hertz Rental Car Desk in the hotel's main building lobby arcade.
Public Transit Options
The samTrans BX bus leaves San Francisco International Airport for the Colma BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station approximately every 20-30 minutes. The ride to the Colma BART station takes around 20 minutes at a cost of $1.25. From there, take the BART train (orange or blue line) to the Powell Street station. The train leaves every 10 minutes or so. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the Powell Street Station at a cost of $2.25. The hotel is only a few minutes walk (3 blocks) from there.
For those flying into Oakland Internationl Airport (OAK), take the AirBART express bus to the BART Oakland Airport/Coliseum station. The bus leaves approximately every 15 minutes and it is about a 10-minute ride at a cost of $2.00. Then take the BART train (blue or green line) to Powell St. Departures occur every 10 minutes and it takes about 20 minutes to get to Powell St. at a cost of $2.75. The hotel is only a few minutes walk (3 blocks) from there.
Driving Directions
From San Francisco International Airport
Take 101 North to 4th Street Exit onto Bryant. Continue one block and turn left onto 3rd Street. Cross the Market Street intersection at Geary. Turn left onto Geary and the hotel is just past Union Square on the right.
From North
From the Golden Gate Bridge, cross the bridge and exit Lombard Street. Turn right onto Van Ness and left onto Bush. Turn right onto Powell and right onto Geary. The hotel Carriage Entrance is right off Geary.
