  The stand-alone HDF-EOS to GeoTIFF Conversion Tool (HEG) version 2.8 is officially released. The release contains tar files for the supported platforms SUN, SGI, LINUX, MAC OSX and WINDOWS.

  The following tar files have been placed on the EDHS ftp site (ftp to edhs1.gsfc.nasa.gov) in the directory as identified:

• Effective immediately we are dropping support for HP11, IBM, Sun5.8, and DEC platforms. We still will support Sun (5.9, 5.10), SGI (n32, 64), Linux [RedHat 32, (Itanium and Opteron) 64 ], WINDOWS XP (HDF-EOS2, HDF-EOS5, MTD Toolkit, HEG, and HDF-EOS Plug-in for HDFView only), CYGWIN (HDF-EOS2, HDF-EOS5, and MTD Toolkit only), and Mac OS X. Mac Intel platform will be supported with the next release of Toolkit and HDF-EOS (To be released as soon as new versions of HDF4 and HDF5 become available, probably by mid August 2007).
